'The Anglo-Saxon migration and the
formation of the early English gene pool' by Joscha Gretzinger and colleagues (2022) has answered some of the much debated and controversial questions concerning the Anglo-Saxon invasion of England which began in the 5th century AD. The study finds that as much as 75% of the ancestry of skeletons from England in the cemeteries from that time comes from Germanic migrants from Germany and Denmark. My name is Tom Rowsell, I'm a historian, writer and film maker from England. In my professional career I have worked as a journalist and an international Science Communications specialist.

I started Survive the Jive™ blog in 2007 after I graduated with a BA in Media and Communications. Since 2009, the blog posts and videos of Survive the Jive™  focus to look more at mythology, spirituality and folklore. I got a Master’s degree in Medieval History at UCL in 2012, which greatly expanded my ideas on such subjects, particularly in regards to the values and religions of my Anglo-Saxon and Norse ancestors. 
My shows are based on thorough interdisciplinary research, drawing from archaeology, linguistics, historical sources, comparative mythology and population genetics - particularly archaeogenetics.

Survive the Jive podcast is about history and ancient religions and folklore. Hosted by historian Thomas Rowsell who is also a documentary film maker, this podcast focuses mainly on Indo-European cultures and most specifically on Germanic/Norse paganism.
